Arthwith Latex

I thought I'd share some images of some designs I did for Artwith Latex a few years ago and will probably do some more once I talk to Kurt *wink. The owner/artist that is Artwith Latex (Kurt Molhusen) is a friend of mine from way back in '99 when I moved to Dallas and lived there for a year or two. Super nice guy, super nice wife Melissa, newest daughter Mila, and little actress Shyla who, by the way, made her movie debut as "Darlin' Cleek" in the 2011 film The Woman.
Artwith Latex has been featured in dozens of magazines including Gothic Beauty and can be found at Goth, Fetish, and Horror conventions across the country. All the designs below are available through the Artwith website, , plus hundreds of other designs and types of wearable latex jewelry. Check it out, spend some money on some super cool and unique piece of wearable Art. His work is amazing!

Jean Henri Gaston Giraud (May 8, 1938 - March 10, 2012)
Today the world lost a great artist and true visionary; Jean Giraud aka, Moebius.
I was exposed to his art when I was 10 or 11 in Heavy Metal magazine. Too young to be reading Heavy Metal but reading it none the less. Among such artistic giants as Milo Manara, Richard Corben, Liberatore, Bernie Wrightson, all of whom I idolize, but Moebius stood out by a long shot. His artwork forever influenced my minds eye. My own visions of otherworldly, fantastic vistas, to this day, are almost entirely influenced by Moebius. He achieves a distinct visual texture beautifully imagined and lovingly crafted, he transported me to wonderful and far off worlds both gritty and dark, and simultaneously bright and optimistic. His take on Silver Surfer (though brief, 2 issue mini series) in my opinion is only trumped by Jack Kirby himself; all due respect to John Buscema. Moebius made an impact on one of the greatest Sci-Fi films of all time, Alien. He left his mark in the video gaming industry with Panzer Dragoon, one of my favorite gaming franchises. These are just a few examples of a true and rare success story within the realm of an illustrator/comic/concept artist. His art is singular, distinct, and never seemed compromised. Moebius did Moebius always. Truly a legend has passed leaving us with a sense of great lose but with his legacy permanently inked in the imaginations of those he touched. I've said it before, when our heroes die, an Immortal is born. Moebius was a living legend who transported me to fantastic worlds and exposed me to the limitless possibilities of imagination. Jean Giraud, Moebius, GIR, you will be missed.

13 Horror,Creepy,Gothy Tattoos

On this Valentines Day we celebrate with horror!! Enjoy
Freehand emerging skull.
A little pink poison pirate web heart.
Edward Gorey is one of my favorite artist/writers.
Some Satany Goaty Grotesquery.
It was a privilege to do this shrunken head on an artist that I admire and love both his artwork and tattoos. A very talented guy, Dart Daugherty owner of Darts Aloha Tattoos in Austin TX.
Ah, The Deadly Spawn. If you haven't seen this movie do yourself a favor and check it out. Awesome shlocky low budget B-horror like only the 80's could produce. A cult classic.
Love the Jack-o-lantern!
A Metalocalypse inspired totem. My wife's calve. You can find the preliminary sketches here
One of my favorite zombie tattoos. I had alot of fun working on this one.
An oldy but a goody. The Crypt Keeper.
Some Vincent Locke Cannibal Corpse goodness on my clients neck. Pretty Metal! \../ >< \../
Good old Texas Chainsaw Massacre action. Leatherface doing his thing. I took a little artistic license and added more blood to the blade and his apron. This client came to me with a workable but pretty beat outline of this image. I would have recommended that this image be placed on a part of the body more conducive to the design. As it was, the blade of the chainsaw wraps around his ankle so I had to work with it.

Cthulhu half-sleeve

Free-hand half-sleeve of the ancient one. It was done over three or four sessions, I'm not sure to be honest. I'm a big fan of Lovecraft, tentacles/cephalopods, monsters, and horror so this tattoo was a pleasure! I want to do more Lovecraftian creatures and such.

Drawn on with colored sharpies.
