Sketchbook 2003 - 2004

Again, really feeling nostalgic. I even got a model freight car and painted this on the side. I wish I still had it actually. Oh well.
This was a requested design "SW:1" which was meant to be tattooed on said "SW:1" but never got around to it. If requested again I would redesign it for sure.

Sketchbook 2003 - 2004

So as I'm looking in the garage for old sketchbooks, which I have many, I'm finding those that I kept simultaneously and therefore finding more entries for the "titled" portion of this blog. Apparently I must have been feeling particularly nostalgic because I had quite a few little sketchbook graf pieces, plus page after page of practicing getting my "tags" just right.

scanning at the moment. More to follow. I think I remember where some more older sketchbooks are in my garage. I'll have to go dig those out as well. I had to get a detail of the little weirdo in here didn't I!?

Sketchbook 2003 - 2004

I've got lots and lots to upload so lets begin. Back when I fancied myself a bit of a graffiti artist. Truth be told I was heavily influenced by the art of Vaughn Bode back when I was 10 through my teens. Those were the days, back in the early to mid 80's. The smell of benzine from my eberhard faber Design markers wafting through my room and poring over my copy of Subway Art. Those were the days. Many tattoo artists began as graffiti artist I have found.

New Painting

I havent painted, like really painted anything in years. I've painted miniatures, little warhammer miniatures but no painted Illustrations. So I decided to do a kind of study just to see where I was skill-wise with acrylic paint. I used a Basil Gogos painting and basically replicated it to an extent. Heres the result. This is also, by the way, on a small 4.5 X 4 in. pre-stretched canvas. I'm pretty happy with the result. I'm definately going to do more paintings, I had alot of fun working on this. Because of the size it only took about 3 hrs. For me that seems short. You could essentially call this my first real and completed acrylic painting.

Mosterlab test

Here is my first post on my first blog, sort of a test. I'm going to try to maintain an artwork blog thinger here, sketches mostly I suspect but there will be finished pieces as well. I'm sure I'll use this to rant and rave at times or not who knows. Maybe just a stream of consciousness thing lets see what this evolves into. Time to start scanning. YIKES!! and AWAY!!
