deficit omne quod nasciture

deficit omne quod nasciture - everything that is born passes away (Quintillan)
I completed this painting a few months ago. I'm pretty proud of it predominantly because I rarely complete paintings and completing this one has invigorated the idea that I can finish paintings. That statement will make more sense to other artists. I have lots of projects, paintings and otherwise, that I've started but have yet to complete. I've regained the confidence to complete things. Leonardo daVinci said," Art is never finished, only abandoned." This is has been true in the extreme for me for many years.
I used gold leaf on the Catholic Icon inspired burst behind her head and as the trim to her veil. Gold leaf leaves a great result but it is a bitch to apply.
Close up of her face and a strong gold leaf contrast shot.
Lastly a detail of the banner, which is one of my favorite details of the painting.
The painting is all acrylic with gold leaf detail on 19 x 15 in. oval illustration board. The Acrylics I used and generally use are actually Games Workshop acrylics. I've used/tried lots of other acrylics and found that these work the best for me. I paint minis as a hobby (Games Workshop 40K and Fantasy) and have always used said brand and find the color selection, opacity, and consistency suits me.
